Region 21 tournament info!!
As you may know Rock Solid karate is the host of the Region 21 championship this year. We are very excited about this event and encourage every student to participate. If they are Tiny Tigers they can do flag sparring and a form (blocking drill). If they are adult or child and they are green advanced and below they can compete in sparring and forms. Brown belts and above can compete in forms, weapons, and sparring. There is also a breaking division that students can compete in. In order to test for Black Belt a student must attend one Black Bel Camp and one regional tournament.
We will have tournament classes on Wednesday from 7:30-8:30 for Blue belts and black belts from now and until the tournament. Prior to that we will have class for all colored ranks (excluding blue belt) from 6:45-7:30. This class we will focus on the forms and weapons portion of the tournament. On Thursdays we have sparring class from 7:15-8 and we encourage you to come to that class every time from now until the tournament as well. Master Sandt has also discounted sparring gear down to help drop down the barriers.
The black belt test, tournament, and dinner will all be held at the same location at the Mulberry Park community center 4491 J M Turk Rd, Flowery Branch, GA 30542. The dinner will be on Saturday night following the tournament. Because of our AWESOME sponsorship we have been able to cut the cost of this meal in half and it will be $8 a head. This is a great event and very family friendly. For those of you that are unfamiliar with how WTSDA events are held, have no fear. It is a very positive atmosphere. The sparring is light to no contact and you do not have to worry about your child getting hurt. This is something that can greatly improve their confidence moving forward as well. I encourage everyone to support this event so we can have them here in the future. We are a part of a region which means we have schools coming from South Florida all the way to North GA. Usually we meet in Jacksonville, FL for this event since it is centrally located. We are very lucky to have it in our own backyard and would greatly appreciate your participation in this event so we can have many more.
